Disney Sweet Tooth Smack Down! Pandora – The World of Avatar vs Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
There’s no shortage of delicious desserts at Disney parks. In fact, we’d argue that there’s no better place to satisfy your sweet tooth! But when you’re in the mood for an indulgence that also immerses you in a science-fiction universe, you have a few options: Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Both tie into fantastical worlds with delicious creations. But which is better? Here’s the breakdown of each location’s offerings so you can make the most satisfying choice.
Satu’li Canteen at Pandora – The World of Avatar
Pandora – The World of Avatar only has one destination that offers sweet treats: Satu’li Canteen. But luckily, in that single location, you can find both specialty drinks and full-on desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth. Here are a few of your options. . .
Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse with Passionfruit Curd
This eye-catching selection is served as a series of stacked domes that look truly out of this world. The tang of the passionfruit and cream cheese blend perfectly with the sweet, fruity blueberry, and the mousse and curd will both melt in your mouth.
Chocolate Cake with a Crunchy Cookie Layer
This sleek domed cake is served alongside rich banana cream and Goji berries to accentuate the chocolatey flavor – with a few rich additions to kick it up a notch.
Both desserts offer familiar flavors with a tropical twist, checking both the “rich” and “fruity” boxes. They’re fantastic and satisfying when you want a blend of the familiar and the unconventional.
Pandoran Sunrise
When you want something sweet and refreshing but not a full dessert, order a Pandoran Sunrise. This refreshing blend of tropical juices is blended with melon Powerade and served with a pineapple garnish. It goes perfectly with the restaurant’s theme of island-inspired flavors that will bring you right into the world of Pandora.
And who doesn’t love a souvenir? Order it in a Na’vi Flute Cup that you can take home with you to enjoy again and again.
Sweet Treats at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge became an instant fan favorite thanks to Star Wars’ long legacy and the infamous blue milk. But that’s not the only way to satisfy your sweet tooth! There are a few different spots you can hit while you’re in the area.
Docking Bay 7 at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Drop by Docking Bay 7, an atmospheric spot for an ambiance that will make you feel like you just stepped into Batuu! Dine-in luxury before you blast off on your space adventure!
Oi-Oi Puff
This eye-catching, galaxy-inspired raspberry cream puff is served along with passionfruit mousse for an extra indulgent touch. Make sure you snap a few pics before you dig in, though – the elaborate plating and ornate decoration make this a culinary experience worth commemorating.
Batuu-Bon
Enjoy a classic chocolate cake with a twist – white chocolate mousse and coffee custard. Nothing sets off chocolatey flavors like coffee, and the white chocolate adds a touch of creamy sweetness that ties the whole dish together.
Both desserts are served with edible green moss and luscious sauces that set them apart from your run-of-the-mill treats.
Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina focuses mainly on drinks and snacks, but we’re including it here because some of their drinks are elaborate enough that they definitely count as desserts all on their own. The menu includes indulgent alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, so everyone (including the kiddos!) can find something they can enjoy. Their menu is extensive and varied, but here’s just a handful of the items worth stopping for. . .
Blue Bantha
Sure, you can get blue milk at the Milk Stand outside. But we’re looking for desserts here – treats worth sitting down and savoring. That’s why we recommend stopping by Oga’s Cantina and ordering the Blue Bantha. The drink includes blue milk served ice-cold alongside a bantha-inspired vanilla-butter sugar cookie for dunking. It puts an outlandish, fun twist on the classic milk and cookies. And you can still enjoy the blue milk go-to while satisfying your sweet tooth!
Oga’s Obsession
Oga’s Obsession combines lemonade, cotton candy flavoring, and blueberry-flavored popping pearls for a citrusy burst with a nostalgic twist. With a garnish of bursting dried fruit on top, every sip will awaken your senses and make you smile. And the bright-green color is certainly eye-catching enough for a photo op.
Fuzzy Tauntaun
Try this spin on the classic fuzzy navel drink, a sweet warm-weather favorite. The Fuzzy Tauntaun features peach vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice, tangerine, cane sugar, and tingling foam piled high. The sunny color is sure to put a smile on your face, and the burst of citrusy flavors will have you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. And it’s certainly sweet enough to be a dessert all on its own!
So Whose Desserts are Better, Pandora – The World of Avatar or Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?
Both locations will certainly have something exciting to try. The options at both spots feel out-of-this-world and embody the feeling of the universes they’re inspired by. Both locations have fruit and chocolatey dessert options, as well as specialty drinks. So no matter what type of sweet treat you’re in the mood for, you can always find something new and satisfying. Passionfruit lovers can rejoice – interestingly enough, both Pandora and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge both feature passionfruit desserts.
However, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge certainly has more options for dining, and that extends to their dessert options. That makes sense, considering the Star Wars universe is much bigger and more expansive than the world of Avatar.
Our Verdict
Choose the universe you’d rather visit. No matter what you order, it’ll be delicious, surprising, and indulgent. Since the selections are so closely tied to the universes they’re inspired by, you’ll feel like you’re being transported right to Pandora or a galaxy far, far away with each bite.
Of course, that’s not to say you have to choose just one. True dessert-lovers will have no trouble prioritizing both locations on their trip. And if you try both, you can decide for yourself which is better!
