Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar at Disney Springs – An Inspired Watering Hole for Thirsty Travelers

One of the best things about Disney Springs is that it’s full of places you’d never be able to see or visit anywhere else. Everywhere you turn, you can find new and exciting destinations, and Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is certainly one of them.

Of course, you can find cocktails and appetizers at a ton of places at Disney Springs. However, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is the only place where you can enjoy house cocktails and eclectic bar bites in a vintage, 1940s-inspired aviation-themed setting. This relaxed, family-friendly hangout is a can’t-miss spot.

Refuel Before Taking Off to Your Next Adventure

From the second you walk up to the hangar bar’s sign (hanging from a crane), you know you’re in for a treat. The airplane hangar-turned-dive bar is right on the waterfront, making it a wonderfully scenic spot to refuel for your next adventure.

The whole place is far beyond the ordinary, full of rugged charm, spare airplane parts, and salvaged equipment. It’s rife with dusty mementos of glory days gone by. Sip a creative cocktail while you relax, drink in the ambiance, and look for the most unique décor pieces.

The tables are nestled into cozy little pods, creating the perfect place for an intimate experience with friends and family as you refuel, recuperate from the day’s adventures, and get ready to take off for the rest of a memorable day. You’ll feel right at home.

An Origin Story Fit for Its Name

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is named after Jock Lindsey, Indiana Jones’ barnstorming pilot (and famously the owner of a pet snake named Reggie) from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

As the story goes, Jock Lindsey and Indiana Jones ended up in Disney Springs back in 1938 after chasing down a mythology-based tip in Central Florida. Drawn to the town’s lush terrain and natural springs, Jock bought a plot of land on the waterfront and finally settled down after his adventures came to a close. He started flying seaplane tours across the rapidly expanding region of the Sunshine State.

Eventually, he built an airplane hangar, runway, and air tower to support his venture. He’d invite fellow members of The Society of Explorers and Adventurers to come visit, see his home base, and enjoy a drink. Eventually, this became a popular respite and watering hole for explorers and locals with a taste for adventure. It remains so to this day. It’s all too appropriate that it would exude the feel of a world traveler who’s been everywhere and now chooses to be in the best place on Earth – Disney Springs.

The Menu

The entire menu at Jock Lindsey’s, food and drinks included, is inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jock Lindsey’s worldwide travels. As Jock puts it, this food from around the world is prepared to be “casual fare with a daring flair.”

Start Your Engines!

We recommend starting with the Air Pirate’s Pretzel, a giant pretzel served with spicy German mustard and beer cheese fondue for dipping. Or go with the loaded version, which has that as well as prosciutto, sliced brats, artisanal pepperoni, 2 kinds of cheddar cheese, and pickles – enough ingredients to fill a cargo plane and enough flavors to ignite your palate!

Or if you want something a little more substantial, try the Snakebite Sliders, which come served with tomato-bacon jam and house-made pickles – a welcome twist on a classic that makes them a bit more complex than what you’d normally expect.

And as promised, the appetizers are inspired by cuisine from all over the world. Doctor Astorga’s queso dip (with fresh cilantro and pico de gallo to wake up your senses) is a Tex Mex favorite. And Satipo’s hand-filled empanadas are stuffed with an eclectic, flavorful blend of beef, peppers, onions, olives, potatoes, cheese, herbs, and spices. Then they’re fried so they’re crispy and served alongside a fresh, vibrant chimichurri sauce for dipping. It’ll liven up your palate and refresh your senses – exactly what you need during a pit-stop in the middle of your day.

Let’s Taco ‘Bout It

The taco menu gives you the choice between chicken (braised in adobo seasoning), pork belly (in a citrusy chipotle sauce), and togarashi-spiced ahi tuna. No matter which protein you choose, each one is piled high with fixings like pineapple pico de gallo and avocado crema.

Seasonal Flatbreads That are Flat-Out Delicious

The Hangar Bar chef always switches out items on the flatbread menu based on what’s in season and what’s fresh, so you can always count on something new and exciting being on the menu. You can also count on them drawing influences from all over the world in deliciously satisfying ways – like the medjoul date and manchego cheese flatbread with frisee and crispy prosciutto.

Signature Drinks

Of course, the main reason you want to make a pit stop at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is for the drinks!

Non-Alcoholic Libations

Those not drinking alcohol will appreciate the thought Jock put into the mocktail menu. Your options span far beyond the typical “club soda with lime” or “I’ll just have a Coke” orders you often find at typical bars.

Take a sip of The Antidote (Sprite and maraschino cherry juice) for a twist on a familiar classic. Kids will love that drink! The Diving Bell (lemonade and watermelon) is refreshing and rejuvenating, the perfect way to wake up if your day exploring Disney Springs has you all tuckered out already. And the cleverly-named Poisonless Dart can’t be missed. It’s essentially a virgin mojito – soda water with mint, simple syrup, and lime juice. It’s a classic for a reason, people. It’s delicious!

Alcoholic Options

The cocktail menu at Jock Lindsey’s is inspired by the whole globe and Jock’s own airborne adventures. By taking advantage of ingredients like pisco, South African red wine, eclectic liqueurs, German beers, and more, the bartenders at the Hangar Bar are able to mix up intriguing concoctions you can’t try anywhere else.

Highlights include the Bedtime Story (mandarin orange vodka, ginger liqueur, and hibiscus syrup) – a taste of delicious tropical flavors from all over the world, blending the tart South American hibiscus flavor with ginger and mandarin. We also love the Cool-Headed Monkey with African rum, tangerine liqueur, watermelon, and pineapple juice. The citrus wakes up the sweetness of the watermelon and the rum, packing a punch while quenching your thirst.

Not a cocktail person? The German Mechanic might be more up your speed. This shandy is made of Konig Ludwig Weissbier mixed with lemonade, creating a drink that’s both refreshing and robust – the best of both worlds.

Other Sips

Treat yourself to beers and hard ciders sourced from eclectic locations all over the world, from China to Mexico, to Ireland and California. Their wine selection spans the globe. And to help you get the most of their worldwide flavor perspective, you can sample beer and single-malt Scotch whisky by the flight, making it easy to compare the nuances of each region’s take on each drink.

Whether you’re a diehard Indiana Jones fan or just have a healthy respect for a well-crafted bar experience and a delicious cocktail, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is the place to go.
