Kirby Family Farm Scary Train: A Frighteningly Fun Halloween Experience!
Get ready for a Florida-style haunted Halloween extravaganza when you dare to board the Kirby Family Farm Scary Train! Combining your universally scary stuff (clowns!!) with Floridian frights (Skunk Ape!!), the Kirby Family Farm has created the must-experience Halloween event of 2023.
Haunted houses, scare actors, twisting trails through the woods, mystifying mazes, and a fateful train ride await you on select nights in October! We’ll be discussing all of the gruesome details (like dates, times, and admission prices) so you can steel yourself for the scariest night of your life.
Kirby Family Farm Scary Train
So, what does an October night on the Kirby Family Farm look like? Come closer, my friends, and I’ll tell you a little secret…
THE SKUNK APE IS RIGHT BEHIND YOU!
Did I scare you? Probably not, but the scare actors on the farm definitely will! This experience is meant for older audiences and is purposefully structured to scare you silly. As darkness falls, you’ll be subjected to all of the creepiest effects. A fog machine creates an eerie blanket of mist, gunshots ring out in the distance, and live reptiles slither close by… It’s more than enough to trick your mind into believing you’ve left the safety of a regularly scheduled Halloween event and stumbled into an actual horror movie.
With five different attractions – each one brimming with its own brand of horrors – there’ll be no shortage of scares and screams! Here’s a quick look at the terrifying itinerary.
Clown Woods
Clown Woods?! Honestly, that says it all, right? I don’t care if you give a clown a big painted smiley face and a funny nose that goes “honk honk.” They are always 100% downright CREEPY. And putting them in the middle of the woods? At night? As the demented rulers of a secret maze-like compound?!?
Count me out.
But, if you enjoy being scared, like wet-your-pants petrified, then this one’s for you.
Trailer Park
I don’t know if anything can be more awful than a forest full of night clowns, but the Kirby Family Farm Trailer Park is pretty darn close to my worst nightmare. It takes a very real concept – a trailer park – and turns it into Stephen King’s latest story idea (probably). Being founded in reality makes this haunted set-up semi-believable, which is also what makes it a really psychologically thrilling scenario.
Wind your way through the dilapidated trailers, motor homes, and buses, and keep an eye out for the tenants. There’s something off about them, and they certainly don’t seem too friendly. Once again mirroring reality, neighbors are some of the scariest creatures of all!
The Scary Train
The titular Scary Train will likely be the highlight of your Kirby Family Farm Halloween experience.
As you ride on the historic 1800s locomotive, Clyde, the conductor will regale you with tales about life on the rails and what it was like traveling with the circus. As he delves into the darker details, you just happen to pass by the ominous Circus Train itself!
As you continue to rumble down the rails, Clyde rambles on as well, turning your attention to the legend of the Florida Skunk Ape and reports of recent sightings. Wait, did you see something outside of the compartment window just now??
The train travels on, and you begin to wonder… is Clyde guiding you to safety or using you as bait for the Skunk Ape?! Your ticket has been punched. It’s too late to turn back now. Your only hope is that the Skunk Ape really is just a myth…
Possum Hollar
If you hear a banjo playing, it’s probably coming from Possum Hollar. Rumor has it there’s a hidden town sequestered away in the woods, and it’s populated by… mutant possum people!?
Years ago, a giant possum escaped an illegal animal testing facility, and now he holds a grudge against all humans. With every bite, the infection spreads. Can you escape this P.O.U.S. (possum of unusual size), or will you become the next citizen of the town in the woods?
Mystery Attraction???
As of writing, the last haunted attraction is a mystery! Somehow, that almost makes it scarier. What aren’t they telling us? And why??
SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular 2023: A Fun-Loving Fall Festival For Big and Small
The SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular is a daytime celebration where kids (and adults!) can dress up and enjoy the oceanic park as trick-or-treaters! Colorful and fun, only the light-hearted side of Halloween is on display at this soiree, making it the perfect party for families or folks like me whose scary threshold is watching Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase!.

Still feel like braving the Kirby Family Farm Scary Train?? Well, here’s everything you need to know about admissions!
Tickets purchased in advance online are $20.00 per person. If you wait to purchase at the gate, they will be $25.00, and there’s a chance they may be sold out. We definitely recommend grabbing your tickets early from the Kirby Family Farm website!
An admissions ticket includes all five scary attractions, and there are also Fast Passes available for $10.00. (These are very limited in quantity!) Additional optional purchases include food, games, or souvenirs from the farm.

Gates open at 7:00 p.m., and attractions open at 7:30 p.m., with gates closing at 10:00 p.m. When compared to other Halloween events in Florida, the Kirby Family Farm festivities are incredibly budget-friendly and also really fun!! (We love getting to scream at monsters – not at our bank account!) While the event isn’t for small children, it’s not necessarily “adults only” content either, which we really appreciate.
Putting the “Fun” in Fundraising
Not only is Halloween at the Kirby Family Farm spooky and fun, it’s also part of a good cause.
The Kirby Family Farm is a nonprofit educational organization that uses history, railroading, and agriculture to teach children about the past and prepare them for a brighter future. All are encapsulated in a safe and fun environment. The Kirby Family Farm serves poverty-stricken youth, foster children, at-risk and special needs youth.
Proceeds from the Kirby Family Farm Scary Train go to supporting this mission, helping the farm reach out a compassionate hand to those in need.
