Universal Epic Universe: What We Know So Far in 2023 (Sensational New Theme Park Coming Soon)

Attention Universal Studios fans! A new theme park called Universal Epic Universe is coming to Universal Studios. Scheduled to open during the Summer of 2025, we’re already beyond excited to visit it!

As you may already know, Universal Studios is owned by NBCUniversal. The gigantic resort opened in Orlando, FL, in 1990. Somewhat similar to Walt Disney World in size and structure, Universal Orlando Resort is home to all kinds of movie-magic fun, incredibly entertaining rides, and show-stopping attractions.

Universal Orlando currently contains the following parks: Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, and, of course, Volcano Bay (the absolutely fantastic water park.) This new theme park, Universal Epic Universe, will be a splendid addition to Universal Studios. But be aware! It could be difficult to book tickets when it first opens; The demand will be high. 

Universal Epic Universe – What to Expect from Orlando, Florida’s Newest Theme Park

Spoiler alert: you can expect some AMAZING things!!

Universal Epic Universe is expected to have all kinds of entertainment from DreamWorks Animation, Nintendo, and Illumination. Nintendo will hold a major part of the park – with an entire “Super Nintendo World” – which is extremely exciting for fans of Mario, Luigi, and the entire Mushroom Kingdom cast!

Whispers of this wonderous new theme park have actually been circulating since 2019. However, as to be expected with anything happening around that time, development was delayed a bit by the pandemic. Thankfully, in 2021, things got rolling again, and now it’s full steam ahead!

Directly quoted from Universal Studios’ website: 

“Coming to Universal Orlando Resort – Universal Epic Universe will offer an entirely new level of experience that will forever change theme park entertainment. Guests will venture beyond their wildest imagination, traveling into beloved stories and through vibrant lands on adventures where the journey is as astounding as the ultimate destination.”

The brand-new theme park is set to be the largest theme park at Universal Studios (including both Florida and California). This addition sounds awesome if you ask us!

Super Nintendo World – Level Up!

We’re able to hypothesize a bit about Super Nintendo Land based upon the fantastic area that recently opened up in Universal Hollywood; if Orlando’s iteration of the video game world is anything at all alike, it’s set to WOW any and all Nintendo fans!

Called the “worst-kept secret in history,” Orlando’s Super Nintendo World may not come as a surprise, but we’re grateful for its official confirmation anyway – and utterly ecstatic to enter the land of koopas and goombas!

We’re anticipating plenty of interactive games, coin collecting, item grabbing, banana peel dodging, and the ultimate ride – Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge! However, there are likely to be a number of other attractions, as Universal Epic Universe in Orlando is supposed to have an even bigger and better Super Nintendo World than those already in existence. All signs point to a fun ride featuring Yoshi and hopefully a Donkey Kong roller coaster as well! (We’re guessing Orlando’s Yoshi ride will closely resemble “Yoshi’s Adventure” at the Super Nintendo World in Osaka, Japan.) Needless to say, 2025 cannot come soon enough!

Get excited for the delicious Toadstool Café and exclusive merchandise that you’ll find all throughout the park. (And don’t forget to study the best ways to earn those coins!) Super Nintendo World puts the ‘awe’ in awesome whether you’re visiting the one in Japan, California, or just eagerly awaiting the Orlando grand opening. 

Fantasy at its Finest

Epic Universe is rumored to have several more awesome coasters coming to the park, including one themed after the classic movie monsters. There’s a huge map on Universal Studios’ website here where you can view the projected layout in more significant detail (and appreciate just how enormous the new property is!). While we wait for those sizzling hot newsletters to drop into our inboxes, there are still a few more rumors for us to chew on…

If you thought the Wizarding World of Harry Potter couldn’t possibly be expanded…think again! Just like Hermione’s enchanted bag in Deathly Hallows, there’s more room for expansion than meets the eye!

Rumor has it there will be a new area themed around the film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. We’re left to assume this area will immerse guests in the world of Fantastic Beasts, perhaps mimicking the sights and sounds of 1920s New York, London, or Paris. (Personally, we’d love to explore the inside of Newt’s suitcase!) No doubt this area will be brimming with magical beasts, no matter where it’s set. We’d also anticipate some kind of ride and/or large attraction to be the main draw to the area.

Moving on to one of the best franchises ever – How To Train Your Dragon – we’re absolutely thrilled it’s getting its own individual land in Epic Universe! We are so ready to travel to Berk and hang out with Hiccup and Toothless! The land inside Epic Universe is rumored to be called “How To Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk,” and part of what makes it extra cool is that it will be the first HTTYD world!

Even as the new park continues to develop and details inevitably change, we can’t wait to see the ultimate outcome of Epic Universe!
