“HAVE A VERY HARRY CHRISTMAS!”

Seasons Greetings! It’s the Quibbler Creative Editor here, and today, we’re going to see how our favorite professors, students, and house elves celebrate Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! (Note that Hogwarts is accessible to our American witches and wizards through a top-secret entrance in a muggle attraction called “Universal Studios Orlando” and “Universal’s Islands of Adventure.”)

From Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade, the entire wizarding world is ready to get into the Christmas spirit. (Not to mention the actual spirits wandering around Hogwarts – be sure to wish a very happy Christmas to Peeves, the poltergeist, if you don’t want him to put coal in your stocking!)

With tips and tricks I’ve gleaned from exclusive interviews, I’ll provide you with everything you need to know to make this your most magical Christmas yet!

Now, if only I could find a spell for perfectly wrapping presents…

Christmas in the Wizarding World

One of the best times to visit Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, or Diagon Alley is the Christmas season! During select days throughout the winter, you can experience exclusive performances, light shows, and dine on delicious foods throughout the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Let’s dive into the details!

Spell-Binding Christmas Carols

“. . .They heard Sirius tramping past their door toward Buckbeak’s room, singing ‘God Rest Ye Merry Hippogriffs’ at the top of his voice.”

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Professor Flitwick is both choir conductor and charms teacher, which means he brings Christmas cheer to Hogwarts through the power of song. Singing a series of cheery carols is absolutely essential to a proper wizarding world Christmas! Rather like a spell, this concert is sure to enchant you!

This year, Flitwick’s sonorous students will be performing in Hogsmeade, so everyone in the wizarding world can join in the fun. I’m sure they’ll make a splash on the front page of the Quibbler‘s next issue!

I asked Professor Flitwick what we can expect from the concert, and he said they’ve created a truly special show for the public’s appreciation. He’s formed an acapella quartet with a student from each House, which is a wonderful display of Christmas unity from Hogwarts. (Not often seen during Quidditch season!)

However, more than just a quartet, this is a Frog Choir, Flitwick was quick to explain. Everyone loves the frogs – they’re the best part of any musical arrangement! – and Flitwick has trained a few of his acappella-inclined amphibians to harmonize with muggle favorites like “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” and wizarding classics like “The Most Magical Yule Ball of All.”

Of course, Christmas in the Wizarding World wouldn’t be complete without a Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees concert, and thankfully, they’re performing again in Diagon Alley this year! This glamourous witch is Molly Weasley’s favorite singer, and with her new hit, “You Charmed The Heart Right Out Of Me,” this Quibbler Creative Editor is jumping on the Celestina bandwagon, too! Here’s hoping I can score an interview with her for a special edition of the Quibbler

Tantalizing Trinkets & Tasty Treats

“One can never have enough socks. Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn’t get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books.”

Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Christmas in the wizarding world of Harry Potter is a time for merriment and cheer, the kind that only comes from being with friends – and drinking butterbeer!

While butterbeer is served cold, frozen, and even as ice cream, I think hot butterbeer is the way to go for the holiday season! Warm and creamy (a bit like a muggle latte), this butterscotch delight will make you feel as cozy as chestnuts roasting by an open fire.

Feeling hungry? The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade offers special Christmas dinners for their wizarding patrons. The menu includes the best of English fare: roasted turkey, butternut squash soup, beef Wellington, sweet potatoes, and winter veggies! It’s a fantastic feast, just like Harry Potter and his friends were treated to at Hogwarts, and we’re anticipating tucking into these delectable dishes again this year.

Insider Tips for an Enchanting Day

Unlock the Magic of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

To help you make the most of your visit, we’ve compiled a list of tips and tricks to help you save time and experience all the best parts of the Wizarding World. So grab your wand and join us as we delve into this enchanted world.

(If there’s one thing I miss most about my own days at Hogwarts, it’s definitely the food!)

Speaking of food, I would be amiss if I didn’t mention Honeydukes. The most renowned sweet shop in the wizarding world has been known to bake and sell Gingerbread Newts during the Christmas season, and they pair perfectly with that hot butterbeer!

Additionally, the local shopkeepers in Diagon Alley always get into the Christmas spirit with seasonal merch, such as enchanted ornaments inspired by Hogwarts’ Yule Ball and House-themed Christmas decorations. You’ll have no trouble finding gifts for your friends, family, and maybe even yourself!

As you stroll through Hogsmeade and down Diagon Alley, enjoy all of the extra twinkle lights, wreaths, and blustery-cold snow wizards. These wintry decorations make the wizarding world Christmas even more magical! Although, Luna Lovegood warns us against using mistletoe, reporting: “It’s often infested with nargles.”

The BEST way to wrap up Christmas at Hogwarts is to head to the castle at nightfall.

Here, you’ll witness the finest spellcasting the wizarding world has to offer. Using specialized lumos charms, a nighttime light show is projected onto the castle’s stone face. Enchanted snow flurries around resident specters. Lights swirl, fairy-like, in a flourish of mesmerizing patterns and colors, creating images of snow wizards and a grandiose Christmas tree.

This shining spectacle is absolutely breathtaking and a must-experience for every witch and wizard!

A wonderful celebration for first-years or seasoned Hogwarts alum, the entire family (even that one muggle relative) is sure to find themselves utterly enchanted with Christmas in the wizarding world of Harry Potter!
