Ingredients
Scale
- 2 whole pre-made refrigerated pie crusts from the Dairy case
- 1/2 cup fruit jam, your favorite flavor, plus 1 tbsp for the icing
- 1 egg
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp half and half
- sprinkles
- flour for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Sprinkle flour on your work surface and place both pie crusts on top of the flour.
- Using a rolling pin, roll the circles until they measure 11 inches across.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the pie crusts into 9-inch squares. Subdivide into 3-inch strips. You should have 6 strips total.
- Spoon 1-2 tbsps of jam on each end of each of the strips.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk the egg.
- Using a pastry brush, gently brush the egg mixture around the jam. Note: This will act like "glue" so that your pop tart will stick together.
- Fold the plain side of the strip over the side that has been prepared with the jam and egg.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges of the pop tart. Repeat with the remaining strips.
- Place the pop tarts on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool completely.
- Whisk the powdered sugar, 1 tbsp jam, and 1-2 tbsp half and half together to make a thin icing.
- Spoon icing over each pop tart and then immediately sprinkle with sprinkles.
- Let the icing dry completely before serving.
- Enjoy!
