10 Cheap Disney Souvenirs That Are Totally Awesome!
Whether visiting the Magic Kingdom is a once-in-a-lifetime trip or an annual tradition for you and your family, it’s always a special occasion! However, it can also be an expensive occasion.
We love to collect trinkets that remind us of our adventures, but souvenir shopping can oh-so-easily push a person beyond the boundaries of their budget. (Not that I would know anything about that!) Thankfully, there are plenty of cheap Disney souvenirs, so you don’t have to sacrifice shopping, even when being budget-minded!
Just because these are cheap (or even FREE!) doesn’t mean they’re subpar. These goodies are genuinely fun and practical ways to remember your trip, and we hope you’ll love them as much as we do!
1. Magical Magnets
A true road trip classic, magnets are always a fun memento of your excursions, and most importantly, they’re also a budget friendly Disney souvenirs! You can find magnets throughout the parks, from the Magic Kingdom to Hollywood Studios. Featuring specific characters, places, and rides, you can pick out magnets that reflect your very favorite parts of the park!
Perfect for spicing up your refrigerator or that chic magnet board in your office, these cheap Disney souvenirs won’t break the bank or clutter up your home!
2. Sensational Scavenger Hunts
Scavenger hunts are a fun way to make a memory while obtaining your souvenir!
For example, this year at EPCOT, Disney is hosting Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak, a kid-oriented scavenger hunt for the International Food & Wine Festival. Maps and stickers are available for purchase at various locations and are priced at $9.99. Once you complete the hunt, show your finished map to a designated cast member, and you’ll get a special Festival keepsake! (The map is also a souvenir in and of itself and great for scrapbooking!)
While EPCOT scavenger hunts are generally “pay to play,” there’s a FREE scavenger hunt over at Animal Kingdom! Head to your nearest Wilderness Explorer Outpost to receive a complimentary guidebook, then explore the park and earn your Wilderness Explorer badges by completing tasks and spotting animals! The guidebook and sticker badges are such a fun souvenir—kiddos (and adults) will feel Uplifted by the experience!
CAW! CAW! ROAR!
3. Terrific Trading Pins
Pins have come into their own with recent pop culture trends. It’s the preferred way to show off favorite fandoms and make a fashion statement at the same time. Whether hooked to a backpack, purse, or lanyard, pins are a poppin’ way to say, “I’ve been here, and I loved it!”
Disney pins are particularly special, not only for being cheap Disney souvenirs (usually in the $10 to $15 range, though some exclusive pins can get really pricey) but also because there’s a whole Disney pin trading culture to partake in. If you decide to try the trading game, you’ll get an extra fun experience and story to go with your souvenir!
Like magnets, pins are pretty small, which means they aren’t just another thing to dust. Don’t have a portable way to display them? I stick mine on a corkboard!
3. Celebration Pins for the Win!
Forget what I said about small. Celebration buttons are HUGE and also FREE Disney souvenirs! If you’re celebrating a birthday, engagement, anniversary, or some other special occasion, you can get a special “I’m Celebrating” pin to wear around the park!
Characters and greeters may interact with you in special ways to reflect your pin, and when you get home, it makes a colorful display piece!
5. Pencils, Pens, and Postcards
As a writer, one of my favorite cheap Disney souvenirs is pens and pencils. They last for a long time, look AWESOME in my kitty cat pencil holder, and are actually useful! (Especially for Disney bullet journaling!) If you—or someone you’re trying to shop for—is more practical than fanciful, this is an amazing and affordable memento option.
But don’t you need something to write on? While you could splurge on a notebook or stationery set (these can creep beyond what we consider “cheap”), there’s another, much more budget-friendly option: postcards!
One really fun thing to do on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom is mail yourself a letter from Disney World! Postcards are cute, seasonal, inexpensive, and truly unique. It’s such a fun thing to come home to and a great item to hang up with your Disney magnet! *wink*
Oh, and one more way to create an amazing souvenir with that fancy new inkpen—keep a vacation diary! Writing down your memories to look back on is the best and most inexpensive way to remember a trip, down to the very last detail!
8. Stylish Silhouettes
Strolling down Main Street USA, you’ll find an old-fashioned silhouette portrait cart where you can have a personalized memento handmade just for you! A bit like sitting for a portrait, an expert artist will capture your likeness—in shadow form—for around $12. Silhouettes can even be of couples or entire families! Of course, the price increases for more people, and frames cost extra (around $9), but if you can only pick one souvenir, this one is it!
A timeless tradition and a timeless piece of art, silhouettes are honestly the best keepsake on this list. Personal and precious, you’ll truly cherish this souvenir for years to come.
You can find silhouette portrait carts at Main Street USA, at Liberty Square, the France Pavilion in EPCOT, and in Disney Springs.1
6. Marvelous Mugs
Hovering right around the $15 mark, coffee mugs are a fabulous, budget-friendly souvenir. They come in different shapes—from Mickey-shaped to your standard, sleek 16-ounce mug—and with so many designs! You’ll have no trouble finding a mug of your favorite character. Again, this keepsake is great because it’s not a dust collector—it’s something you can use every morning to get your caffeine kickstart!
Even if your cabinet is already overflowing with mugs (like mine), you can start a seasonal rotation OR use them as succulent planters! There’s always an excuse for more mugs. Right??
9. Souvenir Sippers
A souvenir that’s useful inside and outside of the park, Disney’s souvenir sippers, are a fun way to remember your trip every time you hydrate! There are so many souvenir cups to choose from, too, reflecting different characters and parts of the park. Some sippers are even seasonal exclusives, coming in different shapes and sometimes even glowing!
In addition to sippers, some specialty drinks (like cocktails) come with free souvenir glow cubes, which provide a fun bit of pizzazz. Souvenir straws often adorned with dangling figurines, are also sold throughout the park for around $5.
Hungry? You can also get a Disney souvenir popcorn bucket! Like the cups, they come in a myriad of designs and are perfect for movie nights, or goodie storage, back home.
7. Pennies for Pennies!
Another classic road trip souvenir, pressed pennies are present throughout Walt Disney World. If you have a handful of spare change, you can create a pinched penny sporting your favorite locale or character.
Scattered throughout the park, you’ll also find vending machines with shining medallions. (They’re usually located by the penny pressers.) These large coins are akin to collectible silver dollars, and starting at $5 a piece, they’re also a budget friendly Disney souvenir.
If you love the art of collecting, then pennies and medallions are definitely the way to go!
10. Scrapbookable Goodies
Do you enjoy being crafty? If the answer is “yes,” then you’ll love these free Disney souvenirs!
Park maps are automatically included with your park visit, and while you might be tempted to toss them once you get home, they can be great for a scrapbook page or a collage of your family vacation! You could even mod-podge maps onto a canvas or other items.
Similarly, EPCOT passports are fantastic little keepsakes that slide away nicely into scrapbooks, and free stickers obtained throughout the parks are perfect for decorating water bottles, notebooks, bulletin boards, and…just about any surface, really!
Just chat with different cast members to collect your stickers. Everyone from the dutiful janitors to the hard-working waiters has a secret stash of stickers, so don’t be shy! Like the scavenger hunts, sticker collecting also provides an experience to go along with the souvenir, making it extra special.
