15 Legendary Magic Kingdom Photo Spots For Killer IG Photos

Taking photos at Disney Parks is an art. With the rise of social media, Disney-themed Instagram pages have been booming over the last few years. While scoping out the newest and best photo spots in Magic Kingdom may feel overwhelming at times, you don’t have to be Instagram-famous to take advantage of the trend and grab your own great photos. (You’ll be glad you did when you get back to the real world and start scrapbooking or showing off those pics to your friends).

Whether you’re out for the best Magic Kingdom Instagram spots to show off your coveted limited-edition Mickey Ears or are simply experiencing the magic for the first time, we’ve got you covered! On your next trip to The Happiest Place on Earth, make sure you check out these Magic Kingdom photo spots to boost your Disney ‘gram game!

Magic Kingdom Photo Spots
You’ll look pretty as a princess when snapping a selfie in front of this iconic Magic Kingdom photo spot. (Photo: Unsplash)

1. The Teacups

An opening day attraction for The Magic Kingdom, the Mad Tea Party spinning teacups is one of the most iconic Fantasyland attractions in the park. Brightly colored and perfect for all ages, the hardest part of getting this photo is holding onto your stomach with any overly enthusiastic riders.

Disney Photography Pro Tip: We recommend getting a little windswept before your picture – wait until the ride comes to a complete spot and then strike your pose. For a motion shot, forget taking it from outside the ride – you’ll want to take one right inside the teacup once you get it spinning. You can get some tremendous blurred background effects by doing this!

2. Dumbo the Elephant

Dumbo is absolutely adorable, which means any picture he is in automatically becomes 1,000 times cuter.

You can find the friendly, flying elephant in Fantasyland and can actually sit in Dumbo because he’s a ride vehicle statue. This makes for some unique and really cute photos – especially if you decide to pile the entire family inside!

Even if you’re on your own, you can always snap a selfie with Dumbo behind you or sit next to him on the ground for an up-close face shot (that’s probably going to be mostly trunk, LOL).

3. The Hub Grass

Yes, Disney fans are absolutely obsessed with some of the oddest things in the Magic Kingdom. And that includes…. grass? (Yes. Yes, it does.)

Beyond Main Street, USA is the area commonly known as the Hub, the central plaza of the park located right in front of Cinderella’s Castle. When the area was renovated back in 2015, Disney added a large picturesque landscaped plaza that gained an immediate fanbase. (Seriously, just search for #hubgrass, and you’ll see what we mean). It’s a popular spot to take a break on those long park days; you’ll catch a lot of people lounging on the green, enjoying a bit of sunshine, and snapping a cute selfie or two.

4. Roy Disney and Minnie

If you’d like a photograph with some real history behind it, nothing beats this quiet little bench on Main Street. Take a seat next to Roy Disney (Walt’s brother) and Minnie Mouse. This scene pays homage to Roy’s work on the completion of Walt Disney World – something that wouldn’t have happened without him!

With Cinderella’s Castle tucked into the background, you couldn’t ask for a better or more meaningful shot.

5. Gaston’s Tavern

No one takes a photo like Gaston! Seriously, this is one of the best character Meet and Greets you can experience at the Magic Kingdom, and you can only meet him outside his Tavern in Fantasyland. He’s always willing to talk about himself, hilariously hit on someone, and pose for a photo with you and your family.

Even if he’s not available when you go by, the fountain outside is a monument to his greatness and offers a great backdrop for a fun picture or two. Additionally, you can still slip inside Gaston’s Tavern for a snack and a chance to grab a photo draped over Gaston’s very own fur-adorned chair conveniently tucked into the corner of the restaurant.

6. Orange Bird Wall

If you thought Dumbo was cute… well, he’s got nothing on Orange Bird.

Literally, the cutest Disney character to ever exist, any photo-op that includes this little bird is going to exude happiness. Head over to the Sunshine Tree Terrace, and you’ll see Orange Bird beautifully painted on the building’s sky blue wall. If it wasn’t cute enough, he’s holding a Dole Whip and thinking happy, orange thoughts about it. (Who doesn’t think happy, orange thoughts about Dole Whip?)

This is a super cute mural for any photo-op but is especially iconic if you’re hoping to capture your own Dole Whip memory. (That’s the true taste of the Magic Kingdom!)

7. The Tangled Bathrooms

The bathroom? Really? We know – but trust us on this one. This Tangled-themed nook of this Magic Kingdom photo spot is tucked between The Haunted Mansion and It’s a Small World attractions. With the lanterns strung over the area, the distinctive brickwork, and the colorful murals, you’ll feel like you’ve just stepped into the film!

Disney Photography Pro Tip: If you want a unique photo in the area, check back around dusk when the stringed lanterns are glowing for a genuinely magical shot with the tower in the background.

8. Be Our Guest Restaurant

The Be Our Guest Restaurant is full of great photo-ops inside! From the amazing entrance to the Grand Ballroom, the enchanted rose, stained glass windows, and even the Beast himself, there’s no shortage of selfies here.

You do need a reservation (planned well in advance) to dine here and get inside, but it’s generally considered the specialty dining package of the Magic Kingdom. If you’re going to splurge, this is the place to do it.

However, even if you’re not able to dine in, the exterior of the restaurant is also incredibly pretty and makes for some truly enchanting photos!

9. The Carousel of Progress Wall

The name gives away the location for this Magic Kingdom photo spot – Tomorrowland’s own Carousel of Progress! This innovative revolving theater debuted at the World’s Fair in 1964 and moved to Florida’s Magic Kingdom in 1975. When it was repainted in 2016, the brightly colored pattern made it a trendy photo spot for Disney-obsessed fans. With those bright pinks and blues, we can see why! It’s hard to resist!

Disney Photography Pro Tip: This one can be tricky to get if you aren’t in the queue for the ride. The best chance of snagging a photo is to wait on the platform after exiting the ride. As the theater revolves, be prepared to wait a bit for your preferred color combination to come around again!

10. Railway Station

It’s not a Magic Kingdom photoshoot without plenty of Main Street USA action!

The Railway Station is a staple of Main Street and can be a great background for your photo, or you can use the Railway Station balcony to get all of Main Street as your backdrop!

Either way, the Railway Station is sure to add a wonderful vintage flare to your photos!

11. Magic Kingdom Casting Agency Door

It’s probably apparent by now that Main Street USA is filled with fantastic photo opportunities, but this is one of our favorites. Tucked out of the way in a small alleyway near the Emporium, this door façade will make you feel like the star of the show (but before you get too excited, you can’t actually open it).

You can find the door along the left side of Main Street USA, right next to Disney Clothiers.

12. Partners Statue

The Partners Statue is one of – if not the – most photographed areas in the Magic Kingdom. And while it may be “mainstream,” that doesn’t undermine its worth as a great pic! There’s something so heart-warming about Walt and Mickey holding hands. After all, that’s where it all started, with Walt’s big imagination and a happy little mouse.

A picture by the Partners Statue is one of the best Instagram pictures with the true heart of Disney World.

13. The Wishing Well

Cinderella’s Wishing Well is a criminally unrated photo spot in the Magic Kingdom. Tucked between the castle and a popular character Meet and Greet spot, you’re likely to miss it unless you’re on the lookout! It’s rarely crowded, even on the most popular days, making it even easier to get the perfect angle for your photo. It’s also a secluded place with a bench to take a break from the bustle if you need it.

14. The Purple Wall

I know you’re asking yourself – how does a wall rank on our list? But really, this is the wall that started it all! Located at the entrance of Tomorrowland next to Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor, the Purple Wall drew guests’ notice. Over the years, it has become an Instagram phenomenon, sparking the hashtag #purplewall, plenty of official merchandise, and even its own Instagram account!

Recently, a new addition to the Purple Wall has been spotted in the Magic Kingdom. This Galactic Purple Wall is an extension of the original and features a wholly unique geometric pattern. Be sure to snap your own shot with this wall in the background – but be warned that you may have to stand in line!

15. Cinderella’s Castle

What says Happiest Place on Earth more than the iconic spires of Cinderella’s Castle? That’s exactly why it’s acting as the grand finale of our list. We don’t make the rules, but you can’t leave The Magic Kingdom without at least one photo in front of the castle.

Disney Photography Pro Tip: Here’s our tip for grabbing this iconic shot: if you can’t get an uncrowded picture facing the front of the castle, you may want to try your luck from one of the two bridges located on either side of the castle. The perspective is just as incredible, plus you’ll get a picturesque view of the moat as well.

Finding the best backdrop for your new favorite vacation photo isn’t easy. We’ve barely scratched the surface on all the great photo-ops and backdrops available at the Magic Kingdom – to say nothing of WDW as a whole. That’s just one of the perks of being a theme park the size of a city (San Francisco, we’re looking at you!).
