Springfield: Home of the Simpsons and Some of Universal’s Finest, Funniest Dining
The Simpsons live in Springfield, U.S.A., and we’ve watched them go about their lives there for thirty years! Part of what makes the long-running, satirical show so successful is the amount of world-building – little details that bring Springfield and its many colorful residents to life.
This includes iconic brands like Duff Beer, Lard Lad Donuts, Squishee, Krusty Burger, and more! And how often have you watched Homer bite into a sprinkly pink donut and think to yourself, “Gosh, I wish I could eat that, too!”
Well, now you can!
Springfield: Home of the Simpsons in Universal Studios has dining options that recreate all of the best dishes from this beloved cartoon. Loosen your belt a few notches and follow me – I’ll show you what’s on the menu! Woo hoo!
Fast Food Boulevard
The Fast Food Boulevard is the tastiest place in all of Springfield! On this glorious street, you’ll find six of the Simpsons’ favorite places to eat out.
1. Krusty Burger
“Hey, hey kids! It’s your old pal, Krusty here!”
Universal’s live-action version of Springfield not only has a replica of Krustyland filled to the brim with carnival games, but they also have a real Krusty Burger restaurant!
Here you can get Krusty-certified meat sandwiches. . .which sounds a lot sketchier than it is. We’re pretty sure these burgers are Universal-certified as well!
The classic Krusty Burger is topped with top-secret sauce, cheddar cheese sauce, tomato, crunchy iceberg lettuce, and is all sandwiched between specialty buns. Kurly fries are served on the side, and with a combo, you can even throw a shake into the mix! It’s hard to beat this titular order. . .
But if you wanted to branch out, or just like hotdogs better, the Sideshow Bob Foot-Long is definitely worth a try! Almost as long as Santa’s Little Helper, this dog comes smothered in homemade chili, cheddar cheese sauce, creamy coleslaw, and diced onions. And don’t worry, it still comes with Kurly fries!
Who knew cartoons could taste so good?
2. Luigi’s Pizza
In the mood for Italian? Luigi Risotto is the head chef behind Springfield’s finest Italian eatery! Get a personal-sized pizza made fresh, just-a-for you! *Chef’s Kiss*
Choose from Cheese Pizza, the Meat Liker’s Pizza (topped with ham, sausage, and pepperoni), or the Meat Hater’s Pizza (topped with fresh veggies). This culinary classic is sure to delight! Just watch your back. . .rumor has it Luigi might be involved with the mob?!
3. Cletus’ Chicken Shack
Savor some true hillbilly cookin’ at Cletus’ Chicken Shack! This fried chicken is so good it’ll make you wanna slap your mama!
You’ve heard of chicken and waffles, but now get ready for Cletus’ Chicken and Waffle Sandwich! It’s a hunk of Cletus’ extra-crispy, finger-lickin’ fried chicken in between two perfectly golden waffles and drizzled with maple syrup mayo.
Not feelin’ that adventurous? Try the Double Batter Chicken Platter. This corn flake-encrusted chicken is served with a side of mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and good old-fashioned corn on the cob.
Now them’s some good vittles!
4. Lisa’s Teahouse OF HORROR
“Don’t have a cow, man.”
Despite its name, Lisa’s place isn’t all that scary – unless you just really hate healthy food. (I mean, I get it.) But don’t be too quick to judge – this menu is actually super tasty! And because it’s so light, you could probably still eat here before riding on Kang and Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl!
Lisa’s Teahouse of Horror will provide you will scrumptious salads, savory wraps, hummus, fresh fruit, yogurt, and chips. Veggie lovers rejoice – Lisa has your back!
5. Flaming Moe’s
“Whatever, I’ll be at Moe’s.”
Get your famous, bubbling, citrusy, non-alcoholic Flaming Moe drink here! (Special effects courtesy of dry ice.) The Flaming Moe’s walk-up counter offers a variety of fruit-flavored selections like the Mr. Swartzwelder Apple Drink and Groovy Grove Juice, as well as any drink found at Moe’s Tavern. Buzz Cola (a zero-calorie, guilt-free cherry pop) and milkshakes made with “100% Mammal Milk” are also sold here!
Flaming Moe’s is the place to go if you need to cool down without getting tied down.
6. The Frying Dutchman
Yargh! If ye be cravin’ seafood, me hearties, then X marks the spot!
At The Frying Dutchman, we recommend ordering a Basket O’ Shrimp – these fried, coconut-crusted crustaceans are to die for! You can also get a Basket O’ Calamari (also deep-fried), or for a sampling of everything, a Basket O’ Bait (shrimp, calamari, and cod). All baskets are served with tater tots, tartar sauce, or cocktail sauce, and you can also get a shake if you upgrade to a combo.
There’s nothing fishy about The Frying Dutchman!
There are a few more stand-alone places outside of Fastfood Boulevard that are certainly worth a visit and truly embody the spirit of The Simpsons!
Moe’s Tavern
“Moe’s Tavern, Moe speaking.”
As long as you don’t prank call him, Moe will be more than happy to serve you up a pint of Duff Beer (locally brewed exclusively for Universal Orlando)! You can get a famous Flaming Moe and take a selfie with Moe’s Tavern regular, Barney Gumble. Immerse yourself in the essence of a scene from The Simpsons while you sip away! With details of the tavern lovingly recreated from the animated series, it really feels like Homer could walk in at any moment.
Duff Brewery
“Oh, yeah!”
If you’re simply hankering for some suds, head on over to the Duff’s Brewery!
This open-air beer garden is situated by the waterfront, so you can enjoy cool breezes along with your cold beer. The topiaries here provide a sure-fire photo-op for any Simpsons fan – the bushes have been trimmed to resemble the Seven Duffs! A larger-than-life statue of the Duffman himself is also always at the ready for selfies.
Bumblebee Man’s Taco Truck
“Ay yi yi!”
Bumblebee Man’s food truck is hard to miss – there’s a giant sculpture of his face on top! When he’s not busy starring in Channel Ocho’s variety show, he spends his days here serving up Mexican food that’s muy delicioso!
Get an order of Korean Tacos – warm, flour tortillas stuffed with braised beef and a zesty cucumber and radish topping. You could also order some classic Carne Asada Tacos with grilled skirt steak topped with lettuce, cheddar cheese, and fresh homemade salsa. Not into beef? There’s also a tasty Chicken Taco! Muy bien!
Lard Lad Donuts
“Mmm, donuts.”
Of course, the best part of any meal is dessert, and any fan of The Simpsons knows the sweetest place in Springfield is Lard Lad Donuts.
Here you can find Homer’s iconic pink frosted donut, complete with colorful sprinkles. And this isn’t just your average donut – this tasty treat is as big as your face!!
Want to take it up a notch? (I know, I didn’t think it was possible either!) Try the Brain Freezin’ D’oh-Nut Sundae: soft-serve vanilla ice cream sandwiched in one of those awesome pink, frosted donuts – plus a topping of your choice!
I don’t know about you, but I sure wish I could live in Springfield, U.S.A.
