Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance—The Force is Strong with this Ride
Hello there.
Are you ready to escape the clutches of the First Order then help take it down once and for all? Well, I hope so, because your training for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has begun. Don’t worry, my young padawans, I shall instruct you in the ways of the Force so you’ll be well prepared for battle.
Although we’re rather short on time, so it’s going to have to be more like a crash course. But that’s the best kind of training you could ask for—after all, experience outranks everything.
Now, quickly, follow me to the Black Spire Outpost! I’ll give you the coordinates in case we get separated…
We’ll be in the planetary system of Walt Disney World, toward the outer rim. Locals call it Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Rise of the Resistance is quietly gathering at the Galaxy’s Edge where we’re transporting new recruits off-world to a different, secret base. (The First Order is getting too close to this one.)
Think you can remember all of that? Good. Because this is where the fun begins!
The Black Spire Outpost
Looks like everyone found their way here. Excellent.
As you can see, the resistance has been steadily recruiting the denizens of Walt Disney World for the cause. While this is good for our strength, these numbers are putting a strain on our transportation to the new base. That is to say, we might be waiting around two or more hours for the next ship. I recommend using this time to meditate, to feel the Force flowing through you…
Or, yes, I suppose we could come back around lunchtime or in the evening when fewer recruits are trying to board. And yes, you have a point about using a “Lightning Lane Pass.” But remember, impatience is not the Jedi way! (And lightning is frowned upon, too.)
Thankfully, there’s much to see while we wait. The cave structures on this planet are really quite something—not unlike those of Geonosis—and if you don’t get off-world very often, you may be impressed by the holographic maps, gonk droids, and power converters scattered about the base.
Speaking of droids, here’s the one we’re looking for: BB-8!
Now, I know Jedi aren’t supposed to form attachments, but I can’t help but love this round, little fellow.
It seems he has a message for us from Rey…
It’s a Trap!
Now that we’ve finally boarded our ship, the rise of the resistance is really underway!
Hang on tight—the sensation of flight is enough to sweep you off of your feet, even with the gravity generators working! It’s comforting to see Poe Dameron’s incoming transmissions, and it’s fascinating to watch the Mon Calamari Lieutenant Bek confidently manning the controls. (I must wonder if he’s any relation of Admiral Ackbar’s?)
But I sense a disturbance in the Force. Rey mentioned a First Order Star Destroyer in close range…and I think it’s closer that we thought.
Blast! We’re caught in its tractor beam! I have a bad feeling about this… But remain calm, everyone, and don’t breathe a word about our secret base. I’m sure that’s what the First Order is after.
Now, look sharp. They’re ushering us into their hangar now. I hate to compliment the enemy, but this star cruiser is impressive. Most impressive. And that entire battalion of stormtroopers is intimidating. Most intimidating. Not to mention the looming TIE fighters and lurking officers dressed in black.
These corridors seem almost endless, and there are troopers posted at every door, every control panel. Security is air-tight. And here’s Kylo Ren himself to interrogate us. I can feel the darkness welling up from within him—he’ll stop at nothing to get the information about our base.
I hope the rise of the resistance is not about to fall.
Jedi Don’t Run! Usually…
Luckily, Jedi like myself carry lightsabers, which are handy for opening locked doors. (Which is to say, we cut giant, burning holes in them—like so.) And our good friend, Finn, has infiltrated this ship, meaning we have undercover allies. We might just make it to the secret base yet!
Board the astromech-driven transports and follow Finn’s directions out of here. And watch out for that probe droid! We are not the prisoners you’re looking for…
Phew, that was a close one. It’s a good thing I’m here with you.
I realize racing through these corridors and dodging blaster fire is probably not what you had in mind for your first day working with the resistance, but honestly, this is kind of how it goes. Oh, but you don’t normally have to come face to face with Kylo Ren like this—
Hello, there, Kylo. Don’t suppose you’d like to trade in that ugly, red saber for a nice blue one, now would you? Not today? Didn’t think so. Would I like to be murdered for my insolence? I’m afraid I’ll have to decline the offer.
Everyone, to the escape pods!
Remember when I said this was a crash course? Well, that’s about to get literal. Hang on! This is going to be quite a drop!
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Congratulations on surviving your first day as a recruit for the resistance!
I know that was an immersive experience. Probably the most immersive in the entire Walt Disney World star system. Interacting with live officers of the First Order, not to mention being mere feet away from Kylo Ren (whose heart is so cold he might as well be an automaton) is pretty scary stuff. And whizzing through the darkened star cruiser—without a track!—was rather intense. Not to mention our crash landing here.
I do hope you’re not too banged up?
Of course, young padawans can handle just about anything. In fact, they call stuff like this fun. “Just another boring day saving the universe,” and all that.
Nevertheless, I think I’ll go settle in with a glass of blue milk and play a relaxing game of holochess with BB-8.
May the Force be with you!
Have you joined the resistance? How did your first mission go? Let us know in the comments below!
And enjoy this Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance fun fact: You might notice that Lieutenant Bek sounds rather familiar, and it’s not because he’s a cousin to Admiral Ackbar (that we know of). He’s voiced by none other than the amazing James Arnold Taylor—aka Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars: The Clone Wars!1
