A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Disney’s Fantastically Fun Scavenger Hunt of the Seven Seas!
In the heart of Adventureland, nestled amidst Enchanted Tiki Room and perilous Jungle Cruise, is a place where you can connect with your inner pirate. After all, Walt Disney World is the perfect port for buccaneers of make-believe! (That’s why Captain Hook hangs around there, you know.) If you happen to be an aspiring swashbuckler, or just enjoy a day of wholesome fun, then you’re going to love A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas Scavenger Hunt!
Sparrow vs. Barbossa!
When you take part in A Pirate’s Adventure scavenger hunt, you get to work alongside everybody’s favorite captain: Jack Sparrow. (Feel free to fangirl. I certainly won’t judge!)
Together, you and Sparrow have to find five treasures. The catch? They could be anywhere in Adventureland. After all, traveling across the world is just a prerequisite of being a pirate.
But there’s a little more to the story… As you probably know, Captain Jack Sparrow isn’t loved by everyone, despite his hoard of fangirls. Captain Barbossa, an infamous trickster, is also Sparrow’s number one enemy. Their rivalry is deep-rooted in a storm-tossed past of mutiny and deception. And now Barbossa is your rival, too.
Just as you and Sparrow are seeking treasure, so is Barbossa and his ghoulish cronies. Can you and Sparrow find all five treasures before him? Remember, it’s not just a matter of mere gold anymore – it’s also about sweet revenge and bragging rights!
Become a Swashbuckler in Sparrow’s Crew
To participate in A Pirate’s Adventure scavenger hunt, make your way past the Pirates of the Caribbean ride; here you’ll find the former Crow’s Nest Shop. A cast member will welcome you and provide you with a talisman so you can complete the hunt properly. They’ll also assign you one of the five treasure hunts available.
Each treasure hunt is totally different from the others, with a unique name that gives a hint about the objective. There’s “Heads You Lose,” “Blackbeard,” “A King’s Ransom,” “Guardian’s Curse,” and “Haven Defense.” If you’ve ever completed Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure, you’ll find that this attraction is similar in many ways!
Each hunt has its own map. Following this cryptic cartography, you’ll work your way through Adventureland and find each of the five touchpoints where the treasure may be. When you find the first touchpoint, it will tell you how to get to the second one, and the second touchpoint will tell you where to go next, and when you get there – well, you kinda get the idea!
When you arrive at each touchpoint, you’ll need to activate it with your special talisman. (If you don’t have the talisman on you, but you have a Magic Band, you can use that to activate it.) You’ll know a touchpoint when you see one because it will correspond with the object pictured on your map. For example, it could be a pirate’s ship or even a ship’s helm.
Activating a touchpoint adds a new element to the treasure hunt. You’ll receive other clues in the form of actions, like skeletons waking up and cannons being fired off. You may even see a sinking pirate ship. But with all of this going on, don’t forget to listen for any important messages that may be communicated!
If you choose to finish your hunt in one shot, the experience takes about 30 minutes. But you have the option of spacing your treasure hunting out over the course of your day, or multiple days if that’s your preference. It’s important to note that you can only participate in the scavenger hunt up until the last three hours the park is open for the day. Checking with the cast members to see when the hunt ends on any given day is always a good idea. They can also help by giving you hints if you are having a lot of difficulty finding the treasures.
You can choose to complete as many of the five hunts as you want. For each hunt you complete you get a unique treasure finder card. If you finish all five scavenger hunts, you get Captain Jack Sparrow’s signature on a completion card! In the past, the park has even awarded Pirates of the Caribbean Fast Passes to people who complete at least two of the hunts.
The Insider Scavenger Hunt Scoop
While this is a child-friendly scavenger hunt, it can be challenging enough for a group of adults to participate in, too. Some of the clues may go over a young child’s head, so diversity in your group goes a long way in being able to complete the hunts successfully. But if you are truly adventurous you may even choose to try and complete one or more of the hunts by yourself.
To complete this hunt, you’ll need to search inside and outside, so plan accordingly based on the weather during your visit. (This is why many people choose to complete a hunt over the course of a few hours or even a few days.)
This treasure hunt is the perfect pastime if you enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. But even if you didn’t (how could you not??), you’ll still find these scavenger hunts are a great way to explore the park in a less traditional way! And the completion cards make awesome (scrap-bookable) souvenirs.
Oh, and did we mention the scavenger hunt is FREE? That’s always a bonus, right?!
Not everyone realizes it, but A Pirate’s Adventure Treasures of the Seven Seas Scavenger Hunt has been a staple of the park’s entertainment since 2013. In that time it’s only grown in popularity, making it one of the preferred attractions of many diehard Disney visitors.
