Copycat Disney World Churro Bites

Inspired by a recipe shared by the Disney Parks blog, this yummy recipe allows you to satisfy your cravings for Churros even if you aren't able to visit Disney's theme parks.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon, divided

Instructions

  1. Combine water, butter, salt and 1/4 tsp cinnamon in a 1 1/2-quart saucepan.
  2. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
  3. Add flour and then stir briskly until the mixture forms a ball.
  4. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool for 7 minutes.
  5. Add eggs to the mixture one at a time, stirring until completely combined and then set aside.
  6. Pour vegetable oil into a skillet.
  7. Heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat or until it reaches a temperature of 350 degrees as measured on the candy thermometer.
  8. Spoon the flour mixture into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  9. Using the piping bag, pipe one-inch strips of dough over the skillet using a knife to cut the strips from the end of the star tip. Repeat until the dough fills the skillet leaving room for the churro bites to fry.
  10. Fry the churro bites until golden brown.
  11. Remove the churro bites with a slotted spoon and then place them on a paper towel to drain.
  12. In a medium mixing bowl, mix sugar and the remaining cinnamon.
  13. Toss the churro bites in the sugar mixture until well coated.
  14. Enjoy!
