Ranking All 12 Rides at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park—From Relaxing to Riveting
What’s the coolest Disney Park at Walt Disney World?
EPCOT, when there’s a breeze?
Maybe…Magic Kingdom in December?
We’re actually talking about Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park! One of WDW’s two awesome water parks, Blizzard Beach has a wonderfully snowy theme throughout the water park and tons of rides and water slides for the whole family. It will exceed your thrill seeker dreams, but there are also great things for the casual floaters, too. Today, we’re ranking the rides at Blizzard Beach from the most relaxing to the most exhilarating attractions.
Non-Thrill Rides
If you’re looking to cool off and enjoy the lazier side of summer, then these are for you!
12. Cross Country Creek
Starting off with one of the calmer rides at Blizzard Beach, it’s something almost everyone loves: a lazy river! All it entails, is, well, being a bit lazy! Just hop in your inner tube and float down the river, or in this case, the creek. Cross Country Creek is actually 3,000 feet long! If you’re not into the slides, you just want to relax, or you’re looking for a way to just float around for a bit after lunch, Cross Country Creek is great for swimmers of any level. Also, there are several stopping points throughout the creek where you can get inner tubes.
11. The Chairlift
This ride is a nice, scenic lift to the top of Blizzard Beach—as long as you don’t mind heights! (You do have to be 32 inches tall to ride, but there are also stairs to the top so even little ones can get up there and enjoy the view!) Because the theme of Blizzard Beach is a ski resort and “snow” is everywhere, it wouldn’t be complete without a chairlift that takes you to the top of “Mt. Gushmore!” Guests board a gondola-like seat and have the option of either riding all the way to the top or stepping off the chairlift early at one of three ride entrances: Teamboat Springs, Slush Gusher, and Summit Plummet. (Whew!)
10. Melt Away Bay Wave Pool
We can’t forget about the Melt Away Bay Wave Pool! Get this: this wave pool stretches across an entire acre! Disney doesn’t mess around when it comes to water parks. The wave pool is heated, and you don’t need to be a certain height to float. Just grab an inner tube or go without—the choice is up to you!
9. Tike’s Peak
For the kiddos, check out Tike’s Peak! Best sized for preschool-age guests, miniature water slides, and splashing good fun can be found in this corner. Check out the sand, the inner tube ride, and the wading pool, too!
8. Ski Patrol Training Camp
If your kids are older than preschool, but not quite ready for the bigger thrills at Blizzard Beach, they might enjoy the Ski Patrol Training Camp. Essentially, it’s a water park obstacle course for kids! With slides that utilize inner tubes and slides that don’t, a zip line, and more, the Ski Patrol Training Camp is where it’s at!
Thrill Rides
Hang on to your hat—this is where the fun begins!
7. Teamboat Springs
Coming in 7th place in our Blizzard Beach ranking is the ever-fun Teamboat Springs ride! As a whitewater rapid raft ride, Teamboat gives off similar (but less-intense) Kali River Rapid vibes, while allowing the whole family or group to ride together. Teamboat Springs holds up to 6 people in a raft, and there are some great drops and fast turns, just like sloshing through some real rapids. We’ve ranked this ride lower on the “Thrill Seeker” category, simply because it doesn’t have a height requirement!
6. Tobaggan Racers
Next up—the Toboggan Racers! This ride also has no height requirement, however, you will need a bit of bravery! It may not go as fast as some of the other waterslides, but you’ll definitely feel the wind (and perhaps some imaginary snow) in your hair! The Toboggan Racers have eight different waterslide “lanes.” The slides go up and down, and guests ride downhill on a “toboggan” mat. They’re fast and fun!
5. Snow Stormers
Speaking of races, coming up in 5th place in our ranks, we have the Snow Stormers! For these slides, riders will pick up a mat to take on the waterslide. The theme of the Stormers captures the essence of a ski race, and the slides go back and forth. Can you beat your friends to the bottom of the hill? These slides are longer than the Toboggan Racers, measuring at 350 feet! On your marks, get set, RACE!
4. Runoff Rapids
So, maybe you’re not destined for the slalom life. Need something speedier? Not to worry! Blizzard Beach has you covered. This time, grab an inner tube and head over to the Runoff Rapids. No height requirement necessary for these choppy waters! These slides go faster than the Stormers and the Racers. The twists and turns send guests flying down the slides at top speed! Definitely worth a try!
3. Downhill Double Dipper
Closing in the top 3 most “thrill-seeker” friendly slides: In 3rd place, we have the Downhill Double Dipper. This ride gets 3rd place because it does actually have a height requirement. You must be 48 inches or taller to slide! And these slides go fast. Guests ride down the Downhill Double Dipper on an inner tube, and much like the center slide at Runoff Rapids, you’ll be in the dark for the duration of the ride. The slide is covered, and the speed is, well, SPEEDY! The Downhill Double Dipper is fun to race with friends and family because there are actually two slides right next to each other!
2. Slush Gusher
One of the most exhilarating waterslides at Blizzard Beach would have to be Slush Gusher! You must be 48 inches or taller to ride. Coming in second place out of all the sides, Slush Gusher has incredible speed and looming hills that take you way up and back down again. The water moves fast on Slush Gusher and you’ll move right along with it! The slide itself is 90 feet long, and you won’t be on a mat or inner tube—you’re on your own this time! This slide is arguably one of the most fun at Blizzard Beach. Check it out if you love the thrills!
1. Summit Plummet
Well, we’ve finally made it to the end of the rankings. You probably knew what was coming in first place, but we’ll tell you anyway. *drum roll please….*
Summit Plummet!
Summit Plummet gets first prize because it is intense. Even pro thrill-seekers will tell you that much. There’s no mat or inner tube for Summit Plummet, however, there is definitely a height requirement: 48 inches or taller. This slide is FUN. It’s FAST. And it just might be one of the biggest drops you’ll ever experience at a water park! Prepare yourself: you will catch some air going down! It’s almost impossible not to, considering the slide is 120 feet tall! (Riders are required to cross their arms and legs going down.)
Depending on the time of year you visit Orlando, and the time of day you try to ride, Summit Plummet almost always has what feels like a never-ending line. Many would argue that the fun is worth the wait, though. After all, Summit Plummet ranks as one of the fastest water slides—not just in the US—but in the WORLD. Keep that in mind when deciding whether or not to ride!
Well, that’s all folks! If you love water parks and water slides, Blizzard Beach definitely won’t disappoint! Enjoy the slopes, and let us know what your favorite Blizzard Beach attraction is in the comments below!
