5 Family Friendly Board Games to Bring Your Magical Florida Vacation Home
In case you missed our last article, we love board games! What’s better than getting together with your friends or family to play an exciting tabletop game? Maybe games based on your favorite theme park properties? That’s right! Sometimes you can’t wait until your next vacation to enjoy your favorite movie magic moments. So why not just try these at home?
We’re back with more ways to bring home the magic and capture just a small piece of the excitement from your favorite rides, films, and attractions. So here are five more fantastic board games to make your next game night a little more magical!
1 – Jurassic Park Danger!
Can you escape from Jurassic Park? That’s the question you’ll answer when playing this fun strategy board game designed to pit you and your friends against the escaped dinosaurs on Isla Nubar! One player controls the iconic dinos from the film (including the T-Rex, Dilophosaurus, and Velociraptor). In contrast, the others play a team of human characters working together to make their escape! If one of the human characters is caught by the dinosaurs, the player can bring a new character into play immediately and stay in the game! However, if the dinosaurs eat too many humans, then it’s all over for them!
Ravensburger makes some great board games based on your favorite franchises – including the spectacular Horrified: Universal Monsters and JAWS – and this is no exception! Jurassic Park Danger! is made for 2-5 players (though it plays best with between 4-5). While it is a strategy game, it’s fairly light and easy to play for anyone ages 10 and up.
2 – Funkoverse Strategy Game: Harry Potter
These days, Harry Potter is ubiquitous with children’s literature, while The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has become the place to be in the Universal Studios theme parks. With Funkoverse, you can start your very own wizard duel at home! The Harry Potter 4-Pack is a standalone adventure board game that lets you control your favorite franchise characters and go head-to-head with other players to solve challenges, duel one another, and gain enough points to win victory over your friends! You can play as Harry Potter, Hermoine Granger, Bellatrix Lestrange, and You-Know-Who himself – Voldemort! Each character has unique abilities, and the set comes with four scenarios to play through.
As a bonus, you also get four adorable min-Funko figures! One of the most appealing aspects of the Funkoverse is that you can mix & match the characters from other boxes to create more unique battles and challenges!
The Disney Villainous Expansions
Disney Villainous has quickly become a beloved addition to board game night in our home so it’s no secret that we’re always going to endorse it as a great option for a competitive Disney game that’s great for all ages, including the adults in the family. Villainous is another game from one of our favorite publishers, Ravensburger (are you sensing a trend?), bringing a beloved franchise to life. This time, you play as the Disney villains and try to cheat, scheme, and overpower your opponents on your way to the top.
In this asymmetrical board game, you play one of the iconic Disney villains with their individual objectives and goals. Each villain has their specific villain deck, fate deck, player board, and uniquely designed character token. More than that, the rules to win are equally unique and each playable character comes with a guidebook to help you maximize your strategy to win.
While we originally talked about the first board game, there are three more board games from this franchise to explore! Each of the Villainous collections is technically an expansion of the first game, but they are also standalone board games on their own. You can mix-and-match villains in each game, making each game a unique experience that makes it replayable time and time again.
3 – Disney Villainous: Perfectly Wretched
In this expansion, you can choose to play one of three villains: Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians, Mother Gothel from Tangled, or Mickey’s antagonist Pete from the Mickey Mouse classic short Steamboat Willie. With it, you’ll have to outsmart Mickey Mouse, catch those adorable spotted puppies, and even capture Rapunzel for her shining hair before your opponents can do the same.
4 – Disney Villainous: Evil Comes Prepared
Even more villains come to life as Villainous expands further with Evil Comes Prepared! And with a title like that, can you guess which villains come out to play with this standalone expansion of the game? This time, you can pit The Lion King’s devious Scar against Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove and Professor Ratigan, the arch-nemesis from the 80’s classic The Great Mouse Detective. You’ll play out their evil deeds against Simba, Timon and Pumba, Emperor Kuzco, and even Basil of Baker Street as you duke it out for evil supremacy!
5 – Disney Villainous: Wicked to the Core
In Wicked to the Core, you can bring out the OG in classic Disney villains by playing The Evil Queen herself in her effort to poison Snow White. Also included in this set are Hades from Disney’s Hercules and Dr. Facilier from The Frog Princess. The fate decks also feature your favorite protagonists like Hercules, Zeus, Meg, Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis, Ray, Mama Odie, Snow White, The Seven Dwarfs, and more!
The Villainous board games have delightful, immersive storytelling and unique gameplay. One of the best parts of the three expansions is that they are perfectly sized for a game of 2-3 players. Adding additional expansions can bring the total possible players up to 6, meaning you’ll have options for any size gathering!
Combining our love of board games with our favorite vacation spots seems like a no-brainer. What are your favorite titles on your shelf of franchise-friendly board games? Please let us know in the comment section below.
